About the Culture
For history and culture lovers Swindon has more than its fair share to offer. Starting life as a small hamlet, it really came into its own in the 1840s when it became a railway town.
Swindon is the home of the Steam Museum of the Great Western Railway as well as the Museum of Computing, Richard Jefferies Museum and the general Museum and Art Gallery.
Just outside Swindon in Wroughton you can also visit the Wroughton Airfield, Wroughton Science Museum as well as the Jungle Parc – there is something for the whole family to enjoy.
Night life in Swindon is also fantastic with a variety of restaurants and bars as well as the Wyvern Theatre and the Cineworld Cinema. A Michelin star restaurant can also be found just outside the town at The Harrow in Little Bedwyn.
Transport in Swindon
Swindon has access to the M4, therefore with easy connections to London, Bath, Oxford and Stratford Upon Avon, as well as a good bus and train link with trains direct to London in about an hour.
